Crystal Kai Lan Stompy Rides Again 8

(My life is existence sabotaged past ponies.)
Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Honey the Ponies. In example you lot're unaware, yeah this is well-nigh the new My Trivial Pony Friendship is Magic cartoon and my experience with it. It's quite an interesting experience, especially since 4chan's Comics and Cartoons lath is all over this cartoon.
My offset knowledge of its existence dealt with when I saw Lauren Faust had been posting stuff on her deviant fine art account with new designs of some of the ponies from My Petty Pony, and heard about it when news of the new channel The Hub was coming out. I thought to myself "Oh male child, a giant infomercial channel," and didn't retrieve anything of it. I just decided to let it slide and only sentry this aqueduct for the nostalgia bomb of old Transformers and G.I. Joe. A while later on the Hub made its debut, I lurked the Comics and Cartoons section of 4chan and saw that the board had been swept by My Little Pony fever.
The first affair that came to my mind is "what is this, I don't fifty-fifty." There was just no way the whole thing could have been real, and it must have been one huge collective trolling effort. Needless to say, I decided to have a wait myself and come across what the large bargain was with these threads. As presently as I finished, my jaw literally dropped to the floor. Information technology was merely that good.
My biggest business concern about the show lacking any grade of personality got thrown out the window within the first episode. Going across that showtime episode threw even more surprises my way, as I felt like I was watching Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends simply with ponies. The very elementary, fashionable art management really does its job well, and has provided a wealth of reaction images and wonderful facial expressions, showing that even in flash, a cartoon can still look skillful.
The writing and then far, 4 episodes in, has shown that this squad really knows what they're doing with this belongings. When I tried watching one of the older cartoons with their QUALITY animation, I just couldn't find any personality out of the characters. In the new cartoon, the ponies really stand up out from i another. Pinkie Pie still throws parties often, aye, just in this evidence, she talks really fast, speaks in rhyme, breaks out into vocal, among other things. Applejack works on a subcontract, and has the perfect accent for it. She's loyal and dependable, but has a little also much pride. Those are simply a few examples. As far equally male ponies become, there has been one major male character and then far in Large Macintosh, Applejack'southward older blood brother.
To sum information technology upward, I am sticking with this show. My Little Pony Friendship is Magic is one of those big surprises of the twelvemonth. I didn't expect an MLP drawing to actually be annihilation I would call decent. Information technology'south got slap-up flash blitheness, fantastic writing, and a wonderful bandage of characters.
(Congratulations Nickelodeon, you've managed to show how junior Dora'due south writing is.)
Well, this came as a surprise. Considering how long it took me to track downwards this DVD since near no retail stores were carrying information technology, I expected this to be total garbage. Thankfully, Princess Kai-lan is actually a pretty good special, and only solidifies the idea that Dora's writing is inferior or non-existent since they recycle the same storyline.
(The Monkey King sets the story in movement.)
The special opens with Kai-lan and her friends playing Butterfly Volleyball. Oddly enough, when we come across Kai-lan she actually introduces herself in Chinese (Ni hao. Wo jiao Kai-lan.) Information technology's near time, I was worried she wouldn't do what Dora'south been doing for and then long. Their game is interrupted by a crazy flying squirrel, but information technology turns out information technology's really Dominicus Wukong, the Monkey King. He'due south more often than not spot-on for a childrens' cartoon, phoenix plume crown and all, merely I'chiliad not certain the term "super hero" is fitting, as he seems to be more of a folk hero. Our plot is fix in motion every bit nosotros acquire that in that location's a far away country where the foxes and bears are non friends. The Monkey King can't solve this problem, and asks Kai-lan to try and get the foxes and bears to be good friends, considering she has a reputation of knowing what it is to be a smashing friend. So basically in a span of about five minutes, we've learned the foxes and bears do not get along, and Kai-lan's reputation is at stake. That's quicker than the time it took to actually get Dora's altogether special going, which spent a good 20 minutes recapping previous episodes.
(Kai-lan second guesses herself.)
Kai-lan and her friends travel off to this far away kingdom in magical robes on clouds and... await, is Yeye okay with this? He'due south conspicuously missing in this episode, making this his second absence. Anyhow, nosotros ride the clouds to this land, and what would an hour long special like this exist without a vocal? Thankfully, information technology's non a bad song. Information technology'southward actually kind of catchy, and on the upside it's short, and information technology won't exist repeated. We arrive at the Behave Queen's castle, and she mistakes them for foxes. By the style, the Bear Queen is voiced by Lucy Liu, who does a pretty expert task with her function, but similar any invitee, she won't exist in information technology enough to digest everything. The castle gets blocked by giant, imperial bubbles coming from a moat. Aye, no way in, then we head to the Play a joke on King'due south castle. He mistakes them for bears, and makes the bamboo forest rise up to block the castle. Aye, and so much for first impressions. We'll exist visiting the foxes first, but nosotros demand to take a bit of a detour because the Monkey Rex dropped the magic stick which breaks and puts a giant pigsty in the wall. So he needs to go back dwelling to fix information technology, and in a shocking turn of events, Kai-lan really second guesses herself by asking the monkey rex what if she couldn't set up it. The Monkey Rex assures her that Kai-lan can do it, which should have been obvious since he chose her to get the foxes and bears to be friends.
(Tian Tian the baby bear and Xing Xing the baby fox become friends.)
It'southward here we come across plot device #ane. Actually, it's a infant fox named Xing Xing. After he introduces himself, a baby conduct overhears everything going on, and her proper name is Tian Tian. Tian Tian crosses the hole in the wall, entering the Play tricks Kingdom. She asks Kai-lan for a peach, only Kai-lan wants Tian Tian to ask Xing Xing. Is this to test a theory, or is it because Kai-lan'south not a residence of either kingdom? Either way, they talk to each other and become friends over some peaches. Another curt, and tricky musical number hits, and it will be engraved into your skull. Xian Xian and Tian Tian are seperated by guards, proverb neither of them become forth. The hole in the wall gets closed by a giant boulder. We're about 20 minutes in, and for that xx minutes we established that the foxes and bears do not get forth, only nosotros still do not know why, even though a baby flim-flam and a baby bear got along well just by talking. So, what will the next 20 minutes bargain with? Talking to the Play a joke on King and Bear Queen, of class.
(Kai-lan meets the Fox King)
Xing Xing is coming with us to visit the Play a trick on King, just stopped by the bamboo wood closing in. In a chip of a comical scene, Rintoo actually attempts to use his musculus to get through, but that won't piece of work! Well, it's like Kai-lan says, if you tin't become through it, just jump over information technology using magic. Offset Chinese target give-and-take of this special, tiao... AGAIN. Afterwards getting over the wood, Kai-lan and her friends use a chip of stealth to get past a couple guards to gain entry into the castle. She's no Solid Snake, only information technology works until Hoho points out that he sees the Fox Male monarch. Uh oh, how does Kai-lan become out of this? Well, the Fox King allows Kai-lan to talk. Guess he'south not feeling too bad about the like shooting fish in a barrel entry into the castle, coming together complete strangers. Kai-lan gives him the peach, and explains to the Fox King that Xing Xing wants to be friends with Tian Tian, but the Play tricks King repeats what's been said this whole episode, foxes and bears tin't be friends. This time though, we learn exactly why the foxes hate the bears. Whenever the bears dance, they cause a serious earthquake for the foxes. Kai-lan manages to convince the Pull a fast one on King to meet the Bear Queen at the wall to hash out why the foxes are mad at the bears.
(Kai-lan meets the Bear Queen)
We then cross over to the Conduct Kingdom and catch up with Tian Tian. She comes along with u.s.a. to the castle, merely if you call up, the bubbles are still protecting the castle. Subsequently Hoho gets caught INSIDE the bubble, Kai-lan and the rest of her group get into the bubble, and apply the viewer'due south help to go by. Every time she says chui (blow), the viewer is supposed to blow at the bubble. Since getting into this castle is a piddling more difficult, Kai-lan advise putting on baby-sit uniforms to get into the castle. Hmmm... showtime Solid Snake, now Agent 47-ish? Not quite because Kai-lan doesn't steal it from the bears, considering that would exist as well extreme for its target audience. Instead, she just takes the uniforms from a conveniently placed stand. After sneaking into the castle, Kai-lan speaks with the Comport Queen to detect out why the bears don't get along with the foxes. The bears are mad at the foxes because their singing is so loud that nobody can hear a thing. I think it should have been the foxes singing was so horrible, information technology could make your ears bleed, considering they're not in tune with one another. Kai-lan then convinces the Comport Queen to meet the Fox King at the wall to discuss the problem, much like when she talked to the Fox King.
(The Play a trick on King and the Bear Queen become friends)
And then nosotros get to telephone call the Play a trick on Rex and Bear Queen out in Chinese. Hu Wang and Xiong Hou. Despite their understanding to come across, the two royalties just practice not want to talk to each other. Kai-lan gets their attention to convince them to talk. She sings the typical lesson vocal, just information technology'due south not catchy. In fact, it's besides long. The Trick Male monarch presents his case to the Bear Queen, the dancing is making everything milkshake. She had no idea that was happening. The Bear Queen presents her example, the singing makes it incommunicable for anyone to hear, sleep, or think. He as well had no idea that was happening. Well, they're going to get along so how do we reach the solution? The foxes will sing and the bears will dance at the aforementioned time, and meet one time a day to perform this activity. The Monkey King comes back to see everybody getting along, and turns the wall into a bridge, bringing the 2 kingdoms together to form the Kingdom of Friends. I bet you didn't expect the kingdom's name to change to that. It is suggested the kingdom needs a Princess, and the Monkey King believes that Kai-lan should be the Princess of Friends considering she knows so much about being a good friend. The Monkey King takes over the narrative for a bit telling us that we need to say Princess in Chinese to make her a Princess (gong zhu.) Kai-lan'southward first order of business is she makes Rintoo, Tolee, and Hoho the knights in the kingdom, and then her friends are now her imperial baby-sit. Finally, we close our episode with a song and dance about the Kingdom of Friends. Again, it will be engraved in your skull, as Kai-lan says her goodbye.
(Kai-lan is now the Princess of Friends.)
I must say, this special was quite a surprise. I wasn't too certain if information technology was going to work, because information technology has to practise a few things differently for Kai-lan, simply information technology really worked. These characters are i-shot characters, but they're not wasted. There are two things at stake in this episode, the first one existence Tian Tian and Xing Xing's friendship, merely if you lot look deep enough, Kai-lan'southward reputation equally a great friend is at stake as well. The backgrounds are spectacular in this special, and it makes me beg for the rest of the bear witness to take backgrounds and then well illustrated. The voice acting from the Fox Rex and Conduct Queen is entertaining, particularly the Flim-flam King. What a way to end another flavour. We'll probably run across new Kai-lan episodes in two years peradventure.
(It's basically The Big Cherry-red Chicken, Dora's first chance, only padded out.)
It'south Dora's birthday! Later 10 years of Dora, what better fashion to celebrate than with a special? And so what happened on Dora's 10th? THE Aforementioned DAMN THING THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE BIG RED CHICKEN.
In the special, Dora's celebrating her birthday, but we don't get to know how erstwhile she is. This is good for preschool cartoons to say that a graphic symbol is timeless/ageless, but if I had to estimate, she'due south turning 6. Most of the beginning is a recap of older episodes. This is a huge problem because what if the kids watching this are new to Dora and have no memories of those adventures? Is this going to encourage them to spotter? Probably not, because this epitomize is purely fanservice, but I'd imagine most of the people who grew up with Dora are simply too old for this show. Throughout this, Dora's singing well-nigh it equally she recaps, and information technology's nothing special for Dora. Dora and Boots are captured in a magical tornado where everybody tells her she has to hurry home, but the tornado takes her to Wizzle World.
The Wizzles know Dora very well. So much so, that the Wizzles are practically the general population familiar with Dora. Actually, she'due south saved them earlier. They're stuck hither, why? Apparently, they tin can't simply leap out of the storybook, and they need to go to the Wishing Wizzle, but they demand Dora's crystal, which she's had since the Snow Princess. WOW, ARE YOU TELLING ME THE WHOLE STORYBOOK Matter WAS CONTINUOUS? Suppose a child doesn't know anything about the previous adventures in the storybook kingdom. Yeah, it raises the question, who is this meant for? Dora must avoid a witch on her way to the Wishing Wizzle. The Wizzles sing a song to wish Dora luck, and my ears are already starting to bleed at this betoken.
Dora follows a starry road, and this is starting to sound all too familiar. Dora calls upon her trusty map, Map, to once again tell us to pass three typical obstacles. Sea Snake Lake, Dancing Forest, over the Rainbow to Wizzle Mountain. Permit's say it fifty times, lake, forest, mountain. Lake, forest, mount. Lake, forest, mountain. The witch flies overhead and the Snow Princess tells u.s. that to get past the witch, Dora needs help from her friends. Dora tin can use the crystal to call her friends for help. And so, after that nosotros get the usual, frequently recycled walk cycle with singing. Could this special exist whatever more than padded out? It's becoming obvious with all the musical moments this doesn't need to be an hour long. All they're doing is flashing back to Dora's past adventures. Over again, is this for kids new to Dora, or the kids that grew up with Dora over a 10 year menstruation? To get by the Sea Ophidian, they take a bubble which comes out of nowhere. Here comes the witch, with some flying monkeys... I can't assistance but experience like I've seen this somewhere before. The bubbling are full of holes, and they're slowly falling from the sky. I say slowly because the sky at this bespeak is space despite the fact it didn't wait like they were as well loftier. If you didn't think a previous episode, the crystal will let you know what happened. Sticky Tape volition ready the holes. Here's the usual backpack sequence.
It took united states twenty minutes to become past obstacle numero uno. This is taking likewise damn long to keep the attention of some kids! Not fifty-fifty Kai-lan'southward Trip to China was this padded out. I would also like to add that even The Backyardigans would have something interesting happening at this indicate, and Wubb Idol had something happening at this betoken as well. Why is information technology taking Dora so long? Because Nickelodeon is besides decorated clinging to the past (Dora) to look towards the future. (Umizoomi, Fresh Beat Band, Kai-lan, Yo Gabba Gabba, Wonder Pets.) And so, we go another recycled walk cycle, and I say recycled, because it'due south the walk wheel we've used this episode. This is another problem with Dora, xc% of its animation is recycled, but this episode takes it to 95% because information technology keeps recapping previous events. On our way to the dancing wood, nosotros bump into snappy flowers, and to go them to stop snapping, nosotros have to speak a Spanish phrase we've heard millions of times. We see the witch and her monkeys, and John Leguizamo is voicing the monkeys. The witch possesses the copse which capture Dora, and so what previous episode are nosotros relying on? The pirate pigs got a agglomeration of trees to dance in a previous episode by wiggling to the kokosnoot conga. Now we move on to the rainbow. Again, why is this all so familiar? I feel similar I'grand waiting for somebody to tell Dora she'due south always had the power to become home.
Dora bumps into a scarecrow that's frightened of the Crows. Wait a minute, starry road, over the rainbow, scarecrow, flying monkeys, evil witch? I knew information technology! This is all a reference to The Sorcerer of Oz! And then aye, nosotros've basically reached the entire point of this episode. It'southward a Dora-ized Wizard of Oz. Nifty film, but it doesn't interpret well into this show. The scarecrow leads us to the rainbow, and we find a Unicorn that takes us over the rainbow. The witch uses an evil rain deject to erase the rainbow, and we autumn from an infinite heaven. In a previous episode, they have to sing rain, rain, become away to make the rain cloud become away, and the rainbow will come back. The rainbow comes back, as they make their way to Wizzle Mount. When we get to the Wishing Wizzle, La Bruja, the witch, destroys the wishing crystal, and so how can Dora maybe become home now? The same thing nosotros've been doing this whole episode. REMEMBER YOUR FRIENDS. So yes, she basically had the power to go back home the whole time. In the crystal, we see its power restored and everybody wishes Dora back home. To become her back though, we ourselves have to say "I wish Dora back habitation." I wish Dora would disappear and give other Nickelodeon preschool programming a chance to succeed, considering as far as I'm concerned, her fourth dimension is upwards. The episode ends with another musical number, with all her friends and family unit.
Thank god it's over, this was painful to sit through. It continues to beg the question, who is this for? Kids who are new to Dora won't remember anything from before. Kids who grew up with Dora are besides old to go back. This is was obviously meant for Nickelodeon executives to pat themselves on the back for Dora's longevity. Yeah, the character is forever, but it'south a deplorable twenty-four hour period when Nickelodeon spends the whole year going on about Dora'due south tenth altogether. I'm officially sick of seeing Dora product when Nickelodeon has other preschool programming that volition never go a gamble to succeed because the execs are merely too busy clinging to Dora. Thanks for the memories Nickelodeon, but I could take done without this.
(Seriously, as far as I'k concerned, we are all Tolee for something.)
Somebody once said, everything is better with Hula ducks. Well, how virtually a dance party complete with Hula ducks? Sounds like it could be fun, only not for Tolee. Information technology's not fun for him, because he keeps getting left out in all the fun, and this makes him so upset, he cries. Wait... this sounds a lot like Stompy Rides Over again, but with a different character. Well, if Stompy Rides Again was any indication, this should improve upon the lesson, right?
Our episode begins on a beach, and the Hula ducks are having a trip the light fantastic political party. We go invited to the dance party, and meet upwardly with Yeye, riding by on his cycle. Always on that darn wheel. Kai-lan and Yeye do a absurd dance, and Yeye suggests bringing the Hula ducks some Mangoes. How exercise we get mangoes down? Well, apparently Kai-lan'due south stomping at present defies physics and allows her to shake a tree! How crazy is that? The target word is trip the light fantastic, or tiao wu. Why non Mango? Kai-lan's friends show up with unlike fruits to bring to the dance political party, and we revive the dragon dance from Dragonboat Festival. I get the feeling dancing will play a potent part in this episode. Lulu shows upwardly, but she doesn't take a part for the dance. Lulu feels sad, and feels left out, so Kai-lan modifies the trip the light fantastic and then Lulu tin can spin. Already, information technology's working a little improve than Stompy Rides Again, but I don't think the whole physics-defying stomping will exit my memory.
We make information technology to the dance party finally, and see that just most everybody is hither. The peeking mice, Mr. Fluffy and Mei Mei, and the venereal from Embankment 24-hour interval. Is this the aforementioned beach? So, the first dancing game is musical chairs. The music starts on your cue, with tiao wu. This is the... third or fourth time nosotros've used the discussion. When the music stops, Tolee doesn't know and keeps dancing until it'southward too late. Tolee feels a bit upset because he can't play now. Equally it progresses, Tolee just gets more than and more sad. When it'due south finally over, we play musical chairs in a new spot on the beach. Tolee does a warm up dance with a very adamant wait on his face up, that I find hilarious. The kids dance and the music stops, simply Tolee forgets the music stopped. Tolee feels real upset he tin't play with his friends, and cries over again. This is the 2d time he cries... too soon in my opinion. Kai-lan recaps what happens, Tolee's sad considering he tin can't play with his friends. Everybody points out that it doesn't experience good to be left out.
And then, we have to figure out what to do. Kai-lan notices the Hula ducks doing the dragon trip the light fantastic. She points out that Lulu felt good when they inverse the dance to include her. Then... nosotros're going to alter musical chairs by mixing hibernate and seek with musical chairs. The thought is they observe chairs together while the music'south running. What? That's insane! We retake the song "allow'south find a manner for everyone to play." Tolee decides to endeavour the game, because he wants to play with his friends. Kai-lan asks for her chair, in Chinese. I'grand always amazed at the thought of conversational Chinese going untranslated, because the context makes it piece of cake to figure out. While dancing like dinosaurs to the music, nosotros hunt for chairs. Eventually we find the chairs, and they sit down their butts in the chairs. Later on, the chairs first flight cheers to the exceptionally strong ladybugs. What? You didn't know that it takes two ladybugs to carry a seashell chair? So they fly all 24-hour interval effectually the embankment. We get in for fruit drinks, and Yeye gets to fly with everybody. The episode ends in our usual way. Wow, that episode moved really fast.
This episode has more dancing than necessary, really. Sure, every dance is a piffling different, but did we demand fifty dances? It seems that'southward all that was done for storyboarding, and it doesn't feel like information technology had the magic of Stompy Rides Again. Unfortunately, I find it a bit as well... unbelievable with the whole musical chairs affair, mostly due to it seeming a bit forced. The flying chairs bit was actually cute though, if a bit out of place. I'k still baffled at how Kai-lan's stomping can now shake the Earth and brand fruit fall from trees. It'due south more than ridiculous than the flying chairs, because Kai-lan is supposed to be human. Oh well, I better wrap this up. Information technology's not a bad episode, but I didn't feel the lesson was every bit effective equally Stompy Rides Again.

It rose to rank equally the #1 boys make in the globe from 1993-97, based on toy sales and television receiver ratings.

Ability Rangers was ane of those things that defined my babyhood. What killed it for me was how hard it became to follow after a while. I did catch some of the newer shows on occasion when they were on Disney Aqueduct. I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of this.
(We tin can all take care of the place where nosotros all live.)
Guess what people. Tomorrow is World Day! Earth Twenty-four hour period is the day where you lot become to gloat Earth by being eco-friendly. Then Nickelodeon is having a bit of an Earth Day consequence with eco-friendly episodes of their most popular shows. That basically means Spongebob gets a special also. However, that's not the case for our review. This mail service is a review of even so some other Ni hao Kai-lan episode. An Earth day episode at that. At present I didn't look it to happen and so before long, just given the show's popularity, information technology was inevitable. The Place Where We All Alive is an episode that isn't preachy in whatsoever way, but rather teaches what you tin do to take care of the identify where we all live.
The episode opens with a zoom through the bushes in Kai-lan's backyard. It's a pretty zoom, but is information technology entirely necessary to try and get the point across? Not really, only it fits the Globe Twenty-four hours theme. We run into Kai-lan and her friends who are exploring the backyard considering they hear somebody working. Is it Yeye? No, information technology'south the ants, the snails, and the worms. They're all building a fruit stand up, and each grouping of insects has a specific job. The ants are building the stand itself, the snails are picking the fruit, and the worms are getting fresh, cool water. Nosotros know what the stand will look like, so nosotros have our payoff right away. Yeye comes riding by on a bike with presents for the kids. What are these presents? They are kites, which gives usa the notion it's a perfect kite flight day. Hoho's kite starts to fly away considering he didn't hold onto information technology, and then everybody starts chasing later on his kite, while giggling to the point it's like diabetes.
They exit the wrapping paper behind, and every time the wind blows, we hear some dramatic music, and the camera centers in on the trash. This is a prime example of foreshadowing, but at the aforementioned time reminding us that forgetting something as important every bit trash tin take dire consequences. The trash eventually blows away, and Hoho'south kite has been defenseless. Just every bit they're about to fly their kites proper, we hear the ants are having a bit of a problem, so Kai-lan and her friends rush over. Turns out some of the wrapping newspaper landed on the bridge, and they can't become across, and can't reach their jobs. I unremarkably don't nitpick well-nigh things like this, but given the fact that nosotros've seen the ants lifting heavy objects, moving wrapping paper shouldn't be a trouble for them. It would take away from the episode lesson, but the ants seem similar the only ones who should be capable of getting the trash out of the fashion themselves. The snails have a problem in the wrapping paper landing on height of the fruit trees, and the worms accept wrapping paper blocking the stream, causing it to dam upwardly.
Then nosotros have a recap of events. They unwrapped the kites, and forgot most the wrapping paper. The air current blew the wrapping newspaper everywhere, and then the kids realize the harm their trash has caused. That's right, Kai-lan and her friends admit it'south their fault, and apologize to everybody. They are understanding, and then we get the lesson from the snails, "We need to accept care of this place because we all live here." From here on out, nosotros are going to learn near ways to do our role. With the wrapping paper damming the river being removed, the worms can do their chore. We can take intendance of the place where nosotros all live by putting information technology in a recycling bin. The snails' problem isn't easy to solve, considering it seems stuck on that tree. Which gives us a revisited Chinese term for pull, la! Oh god, an action based target word, this episode is going to fail miserably. After getting the wrapping paper off, Rintoo takes care of the place where we all alive by finding another apply for it past making a hat. Without any issue, the ants' problem is taken care of easily, but Tolee decides to put it in his sweater's invisible pockets to apply as a plot device, no doubt.
We then get a montage of the kids picking up trash and throwing it in the proper recycling bins, to a vocal that'southward over again, like diabetes. Surprisingly, I just needed to mind to this song once before it got glued into my head. It'due south a very tricky vocal, and I guarantee information technology will be stuck for a while. Some ants then walk to the fruit stand, merely some more ants cause a problem by driving their cars, which creates an unhealthy corporeality of smoke, causing the walking ants, and even Hoho to cough. The ants make an excuse saying they need to get to the stand fast. Kai-lan suggests the ants use bicycles instead of cars. So they turn off their cars and hop onto bicycles. Kai-lan points out that the bicycles don't produce smoke, which keeps the air clean. Al Gore would exist saying all this is wrong, but at that place's a small trouble here. We've frequently seen San-san and the other ants driving Enough of construction vehicles, just they don't produce any polluting smoke EVER. Practice the ants by and large utilize electric/gas hybrids or something? The ants on the bicycles desire to go faster, and so how tin they do that? Remember that slice of trash Tolee kept? We use it to brand paper kites, which let the ants to move faster on their bikes.
This introduces us to the real Chinese target word of kite, or "feng zheng." Not the best utilise of it, just effective. Kai-lan and her friends use the kites to lift up the drapery to show the fruit stand, and it looks pretty! Kai-lan gives us the recap, and we get the refrain of the place where we all alive song, as Kai-lan and her friends run and jump around with their kites, and fifty-fifty fly for a few seconds. I know we've seen her friends flying in some mode, merely that was mostly due to some form of back up from somebody else. It comes off as silly, only information technology'due south only for a curt time frame, so I'm willing to let it slide, merely because it'southward brusk, they had kites to guide them on their flight, and it'south a childrens' cartoon.
The animation holds upwards really well, using enough of world tones to assistance carry the theme. I would say it'south some of the best blitheness the bear witness has, with very few noticeable errors. Unfortunately, this brings me to a trouble I have with the snails having the cute fang like Fufu. Do the snails really need it? No, they don't. Sure, it adds some personality to them, but it but seems like it was a final infinitesimal addition. The voice acting itself has a few noticeable problems. Most of the snails and worms almost audio the same. The reason I liked the ants' voice actors was how dissimilar they all sounded from each other, but it seems all iii worms are using the aforementioned vocalism. Also, when it comes to a line like "wow, there certain are a LOT of problems today," it doesn't assist that Khamani Griffin sounds like he'due south trying to force this line out. That vocal itself is tricky, and gets stuck in your head. Just be warned that it'south sugariness equally carbohydrate, and guaranteed to give you diabetes.
This episode was a fun ride. Sure I did point out a multitude of problems, but overall it felt like the entire time we were getting things done. Virtually importantly, for an Earth Solar day episode, nada it does comes off as preachy. Information technology's telling united states how nosotros can have care of the identify where we all live. So what did we learn? Nosotros can do our part past recycling trash, finding other uses for trash, and apply cleaner methods of transportation for the sake of everybody's wellness. There's null hither about global warming, give thanks goodness.
(Did you e'er wonder if CN was trying to fail?)
For the by while when I've been watching Boomerang, I've endured a program from a few years ago Cartoon Network put out called Wedgies. No, not the painful blazon involving underwear, these shorts are more painful than a real wedgie. If you lot could e'er imagine a more painful experience than this, I'm welcome to it. The Wedgies program consists of a few shorts that are meant to fill time between shows. CN did this a while back with tributes to classic Hanna-Barbera cartoons, such as Pixie, Dixie and Mr. Jinks in Harasscat. They were relatively funny, and noted for their quality in both writing and animation, not but making fun of the source textile, but paying a smashing respect to it, creating a fine tribute. These Wedgies are original material that come off as being poor quality, it'd be better to pay tribute to old cartoons again.
Permit's await at Big Infant. Big Baby is a cartoon most... a giant babe. I'm not making this upwards, this is obviously supposed to exist role of the funny in this cartoon. A giant baby in dangerous situations seen in action movies, such as stopping a bank robbery, making an emergency landing aboard an airplane, and existence a backup driver in a stock car race. I seriously Do wish I was making this upwards, but I am non. The baby itself doesn't friction match the rest of the curt's bottomless, poorly drawn fine art style. In between the short, they brand a mock commercial which tries to be part of the funny, only it's neither clever nor funny in the slightest.
The Breman Avenue Experience is a show that uses 1 color characters against a one colour groundwork. It revolves effectually a garage band that is likewise pretentious for its ain good. If there's supposed to exist something funny here, I need somebody to tell me. Is information technology the fact that the characters tin can't concord on anything yet can finish the twenty-four hours in understanding? Is it supposed to not be funny, but tell a story? If that's the instance, it doesn't even do a good job telling a story because sometimes it doesn't know where to go. I did mention the whole 1 color scheme, but I should also add together that the characters are about as filled with life as a pile of stones. A pile of stones is probably more than interesting than these shorts.
Calling Cat-22 involves a clandestine agent true cat in an environment that tries to be highly stylized, but looks like a childrens' book. His chore pretty much involves going cloak-and-dagger with a pair of dog ears for a disguise to aid an agency understand the beliefs of dogs. I don't think I demand to say anything about this really, it practically speaks for itself how bad information technology is. Every episode pretty much goes the same. Cat-22 tries to enjoy day off, the agency gives him an consignment, the message cocky destructs in Cat-22's face up, Cat-22 is with the same dog who tin't see through a disguise as uncomplicated as a pair of dog ears that do not match his fur, Cat-22 trying to imitate canis familiaris's behavior results in a mishap, and ends up in a infirmary. Repeat this a few times. I know Scooby-Doo follows a formula similar this, but Scooby-Doo at to the lowest degree had its moments and people liked information technology. True cat-22 is as painful to watch every bit enduring a 24 hour marathon of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
The Talented Mr. Bixby can exist described as forcing its sense of humor onto you, and failing at being amusing in the slightest. If the title sounds familiar, the concept is similar to The Talented Mr. Ripley. Bixby takes over somebody'southward chore, and acts like a total whackjob. Is this supposed to be funny? I hate to say information technology, and don't quote me on this, but judging by his crazy behavior, and pilus, I'm well-nigh tempted to say Mr. Bixby is a blackness stereotype. I should also mention, it seems the artists tried to make Mr. Bixby await like Morgan Freeman. Once more, don't quote me on that, simply the grapheme does feel like a stereotype. Aside from that, at no signal is he funny in the slightest, and neither is this show funny. There's no comedic timing at all. Paulie Shore would be more entertaining than this.
Nacho Conduct seems to exist the only 1 that tries, but tries as well hard and fails. Nacho Bear is about a bear trying to get a nacho fleck, when in reality he's after a Nacho Cheesier Dorito chip. The show's artistry has that squiggly style you call back from Dr. Katz, but in flash and a bit minimal. I should add, it's the only testify that looks okay with the wink. Basically Nacho Comport tries to get his nacho flake, but he fails hard at trying to become his scrap. It feels like it wants to exist in the same league as Looney Tunes, merely the pacing is so ho-hum and dull, y'all basically give up on information technology. Information technology's boring, but nowhere almost the same level of boring as Final Fantasy Xiii.
These cartoons are some of the worst things on Television set. Even if they're about iii minutes long, they don't fifty-fifty accomplish their goals of being entertaining. I'd much rather CN went back to showing its old in-betwixt shorts similar Thanks a Latte. That was more than entertaining, and held a higher standard. I wish it didn't come down to this, and I want CN to get back on runway. Nearly people tell me I want CN to neglect ever since they erased Foster's from existence. That'due south non the case, because while I was disappointed to come across Foster's not continue in re-runs, the idea of me calling the network out over that would be childish. (encounter the Teenage Robot fanbase's behavior, such as wanting Spongebob expressionless or calling out Nickelodeon demanding the prove exist brought back without caring for the cartoonist's feelings) The just fourth dimension I'yard actually going to want CN to fail is if they do something stupider than CN Real. I actually watched CN Real, and all the shows were kiddy versions of already existing reality TV shows. The end effect was a consummate disaster, because CN Real had about six shows, and but ii still become regular episodes. It was ane of their biggest disasters, that they erased the other four shows from existence. To close this rant, these wedgies are a nightmare to endure, and should merely exist watched if you desire to see something really bad.
(Tolee can't break seem to break the curse of having the well-nigh underwhelming episodes.)
Tolee's Promise is the final episode in a calendar week of premieres. I actually don't know how you top the last two episodes, because from the clarification for this episode, it seems rather... underwhelming. Does Tolee's Promise actually terminate this premiere week on a high notation, or is it another drab catastrophe to a week of premieres?
We see Kai-lan riding on a Ladybug Merry-Go-Round, and we are immediately given our target give-and-take of zhuan, or spin. I can't recall the last time we got our target give-and-take immediately. Yeye catches Kai-lan after she jumps off, and mentions that he ever keeps his promises. We are introduced to a new part of Kai-lan'southward world, Snail Town. Every bit yous tin imagine, the Snails alive there, and are building a carnival. The baby Snails are very excited to ride the Merry-go-Round, just when they try to movement it, the ride breaks, and the baby snails start crying. This is the kickoff time I can recall background characters crying. Kai-lan promises to the snails that she and her friends are going to build a Merry-go-Round to supervene upon the broken one. That'south very sweet of her. Kai-lan brings her friends over to explain what's going on. Everybody conveniently has the parts they need to make the Merry-go-Round, and everybody promises to bring their stuff over.
The Ants testify up on really cute beast scooters, and Tolee's and so excited to see a Panda scooter. Kai-lan and her friends are invited to the scooter race, and Tolee nigh forgets about the hope he made, but Kai-lan reminds him that he promised. Tolee's nearly to get his wheel, only Fufu shows upwardly on her Panda scooter to give him a gamble to show upwards. Tolee is suddenly torn between going to his business firm to get the bike for the Merry-get-Round, and the Scooter race. Tolee'southward indecisiveness comes off as existence a bit lightheaded, but he goes to the race. Hoho brings a summit, Kai-lan brings the horses, and Rintoo brings the poles, but Tolee's bicycle seems to be missing, and nobody knows where he is. They get to check Tolee'southward house, only to discover he'due south not in that location. We find he's at the scooter race, and Kai-lan immediately knows why Tolee didn't keep his hope, so the usual "allow's detect out why" goes missing a second time.
Simply equally they're about to become run across up with Tolee, Lulu shows up carrying worms in a basket on her dorsum. She wants to go to the scooter race, just she promised to take the worms for Lulu Loops. Lulu points out when y'all make a hope, you need to continue it, and the worms are happy she kept her promise. This gives us... NO SONG? Really? You're irresolute the format THAT much? Tolee tin't hear his friends calling him until the viewer helps to call him over. Kai-lan and her friends mention Tolee didn't go along his promise, and everybody feels sort of miserable most it. Tolee apologizes and afterwards goes to the ants and mentions he can't see the race because he had a hope to keep. Now we get a vocal, "When y'all make a promise, you have to keep information technology." The melody isn't necessarily horrible, but is this the best they could do? I'm no vocal author, merely requite me something to piece of work with here!
Tolee finally gets his steering bike, and they finish building the new Merry-go-Round. The babe snails tin finally ride the Merry-become-Round. Kai-lan points out that since Tolee kept his hope, everybody feels happy. The ants have a surprise for Kai-lan and her friends which involves the Ladybug Merry-go-Round we saw at the beginning. I'm not spoiling it, but information technology's kind of silly, and Kai-lan gives united states of america our ship off. It about felt like the script writing was rushed. More often than not because we don't get the song until Tolee starts singing, and it's quite maybe one of the simplest songs in the bear witness's history.
The animation itself doesn't endure so much equally the storyboard does itself. At times information technology feels about... uneventful. During the Lulu loops, all you lot see is the blank, blue sky and Lulu performing loops with the worms. It seems like it begged for more than the simplicity we were given. The snails have a lot in mutual with the ants, maybe the same voice actors? However, since they're used every bit groundwork characters, their crying comes off equally overacting. Another event with the sound? The scooters are so loud it can sometimes be hard to understand what somebody'south saying. The song itself is the glaring consequence I accept hither. It'southward bigger than the wasted potential in the storyboard/animation. I often complain nigh the songs existence either too short, or also long, but never take I called the songs out on beingness overly simple. This is the outset fourth dimension I've done it, and in fact... now that I call back most it, the song's melody is nearly the same as the one used in Kai-lan's Big Play.
This episode was indeed underwhelming. The premise itself is good, nosotros do demand to keep the promises we make, but it comes off as another case of good thought, bad execution. The storyboard is underwhelming, the scooters are louder than the dialogue, and the whole package comes off as rushed. I don't think it's quite enough to brand a bottom x, because for some reason at that place'south something I like about this episode. I can't put my finger on information technology.
(Pandy is everything to Tolee.)
Pandy's Puddle is the third episode in a week of premieres. When I offset heard near this episode, I wasn't sure what to expect. I idea it was going to involve Tolee causing a problem and placing the blame on Pandy so he wouldn't get in trouble. Then I read the description and establish out this is an episode dealing with sadness. This could be heartbreaking.
Today, Kai-lan is wearing a big hat and she's having a garden celebration with her friends. Kai-lan's friends show up and Tolee brought Pandy with him, request the viewer if they accept somebody special they cuddle with. Tolee mentions how much he loves Pandy, maxim he'south not sure what he'd practise without him. Everybody has their own Garden, and their names are written in Chinese. Hoho's growing Bok Choy, just he can't seem to get it out. Everybody helps him, just Tolee accidentally bumps Pandy off his chair, and couldn't detect him. When he finds Pandy, thankfully he'southward safe. Kai-lan is growing carrots, Hu luo bo. Tolee continues to take care of Pandy and leaves him in his haversack. Tolee pulls out a really huge Chinese turnip, and Pandy falls into a mud puddle!
Tolee's and then excited nearly the Turnip he has no idea that Pandy went missing until information technology was too late. Tolee's very upset when he finds out about Pandy that he sounds similar he'south about to cry. He'south very upset, but Kai-lan assures him Pandy will exist okay. Kai-lan and her friends plow to Yeye for help, and he's going to wash Pandy. Tolee doesn't want to be away from Pandy, and doesn't want to requite him up to Yeye. Kai-lan and her friends eventually convince Tolee to give him upwardly, but he'south and so upset. Kai-lan and her friends go to their festival, but Tolee runs dorsum dwelling to stay with Pandy. Tolee is and so upset, he starts crying. Not only is it devastating to Tolee, information technology'southward heartbreaking! Khamani Griffin'south performance is so conceivable that it's incommunicable to non experience bad for Tolee.
Kai-lan is faced with a situation where she can't help Tolee, and needs Yeye's help. Kai-lan has a like situation to bargain with in that she misses Yeye when he'due south gone, merely Kai-lan knows what to practise to feel better. She makes cards, and keeps a picture of Yeye in her Heartbox. She mentions that the ane matter that makes her happiest is knowing Yeye will always come back. Our song is "information technology'south okay to miss someone who's gone for a while, but remember, they'll exist back." Kai-lan returns to Tolee to remind him Pandy will be back. Tolee starts to feel a niggling better, and draws Pandy an "I miss you" carte. Hoho gives Tolee a motion-picture show of him and Pandy from their campout. Tolee feels better knowing Pandy will be back, and takes his turn singing. Tolee agrees to get to the festival with his friends.
Then we render to the celebration, and nosotros become our target word, Hu luo bo, or carrot. I don't know why we waited so long for it. Nosotros're supposed to go looking for a carrot stand, but there are carrots in the silliest of places. After the third time, we find the stand up. San san gives out prizes for the biggest vegetables, and Tolee wins for his giant turnip. He wants to show Pandy, just he starts to miss Pandy again, in a sort of relapse. Tolee looks at his card and picture, knowing Pandy will exist back. Pandy is all better at the end of the celebration, and Tolee is and so happy. The episode ends with a portrait, and Kai-lan saying she's going to miss the viewer, but she knows the viewer will be dorsum. This farewell does a groovy task summing upward the lesson in the episode, and it almost feels like a mix of all their sadness episodes combined.
The vegetable celebration (HARVEST??) is a colorful place, fifty-fifty if all those vegetables are mostly light-green, orangish, and white. One thing I always notice is despite how unproblematic the character designs are, they exercise a neat job conveying emotions, and this is no exception. Tolee'southward facial expressions are fabricated conceivable through Khamani Griffin's performance. It as well helps that the music in the background helps to enhance the emotional affect of his operation. Unfortunately, I can't say much for his singing. The song itself isn't the problem, I'd say it's i of their amend songs, but Khamani Griffin's singing could use a little work in some places.
Information technology was devastating seeing Tolee cry like that, merely at the stop of the day, you lot feel better knowing he's happy to exist with Pandy again. Just similar yesterday, information technology'south difficult for me to discover any glaring problems with this episode. I found this episode as heartbreaking as whatsoever episode dealing with sadness, just helps to define Tolee's character further by showing us his relationship with Pandy being more than his favorite toy. I'd put it very high on a top x list.
(How can someone so cute be then violent?)
Kai-lan's Playhouse is the second episode in a calendar week of premieres for Ni hao, Kai-lan. When I first heard about this episode, I was in a state of shock. Never had I expected the day a preschool program have a moment of physical violence in information technology. Sure, information technology's MINOR, just that's practically shock value! It made me anticipate it more to see how Kai-lan handles it. Then, how does this episode concur up?
Our gamble starts with Kai-lan inviting united states to her new playhouse. Yeye, and the Ants are working hard to make her a special playhouse. Within, it's VERY colorful, has a dinosaur slide, lanterns, and a pole to slide down! Kai-lan'south friends show up and they each get to decorate a special wall. Tolee points out in that location are no crafts, but after Kai-lan flips a switch, they pop out of the second floor. How user-friendly! At that place's a lot of stuff, and everything starts going okay. Kai-lan is painting a forest with dinosaurs, and our target word is... Kong long. (Dinosaur) We have to notice dinosaurs past looking through a sticker book, and each sticker takes up a page. The ladybugs go the dinosaurs on the mountains, past calling out the color dinosaur, Lan se de kong long and Cheng se de kong long.
Hoho finally reveals that he wants to devote his wall to his favorite thing in the earth. No, not his turntables, Bananas! Hoho goes looking for yellowish paint, only can't find it, and at present he's mad! Hoho's and then beautiful when he's mad. However, this fourth dimension information technology'south more obvious that he's mad. I'thousand starting to think back to Kai-lan'south Big Play. So, in anger, Hoho paints a black banana. He goes looking for a banana moving picture, and he seems happy. The moving picture and then falls into the black paint, and Hoho goes back to stomping around! Hoho's really mad, and he goes looking for some assistant stickers. He looks through the sticker bin, and sees Rintoo using the banana stickers, and now he's actually mad. Finally having had enough, he takes his anger out on Rintoo past punching his leg!! WOW, that was out of character. It surprises everybody that Hoho would exercise something like that. I'yard shocked too, because I would have expected Rintoo to striking somebody first.
Yeye points out that hit is bad, and Yeye disciplines him by sending him to time out until he calms downwards. He's using a relatively precipitous tone with Hoho also, but Yeye manages to stay calm the whole time. It'south snack time, and everybody gets an beast plate, and Tolee wants the Panda plate. Lulu takes the Panda plate Tolee wants, simply he gets mad at Lulu and sort of yells at her, telling her he wanted the Panda plate. Yeye points out how smart Tolee was, because nobody knew he wanted it until he said something. And then Yeye gives Tolee a Panda plate so Lulu and Tolee can have Panda plates. This IS like Kai-lan'south Big Play because Hoho needs to say what's making him mad then he'll feel meliorate. This gives u.s.a. our song "Even when you're mad, hitting's always bad. Utilise your words." Hoho feels calm, and apologizes to him. Hoho then expresses what was wrong. When Hoho points out the banana sticker issue, Rintoo fixes the problem past giving him some banana stickers. Suddenly, Hoho paints a purple Banana over his black Banana.
San San has a surprise for Kai-lan, outside the playhouse. Dinosaur rockers! The ants have a break and Fufu wants an Apple, but Bubu takes information technology, and Fufu threatens to striking Bubu!! Hoho immediately jumps in and stops Fufu from striking Bubu by telling her to utilise words to help gear up the problem. Bubu fixes the trouble by splitting the apple piece with Fufu. Some more of Kai-lan's friends show upwards to run into the walls. Lulu made a teapot out of balloons, Rintoo made a jungle with a big tiger, and Tolee made a Giraffe friend for Pandy. We then get outside to run across everybody playing on the Dinosaur rockers, and Kai-lan closes out the episode for us by recapping today'due south events. There are vibes from Kai-lan's Big Play, primarily Hoho existence mad that zilch's going his way, and Rintoo just happening to be there at the incorrect time. However, this episode has a much better script, because Kai-lan is really enlightened of how Hoho is feeling the whole episode.
Kai-lan'southward earth has always been very colorful, and this episode is definitely no exception. The expressions of Hoho'due south face when he'south angry come off as "cute when angry" until he hits him. It's also worth mentioning that this is 1 of those extremely rare occasions where Yeye's apparel are different from usual. There are plenty of moments where the voice acting shines, I'm impressed with Clem Cheung the most, simply considering of the disciplinary tone he was using. Proper parenting at its finest? About likely. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Khamani Griffin is actually starting to feel more comfy with Tolee. Information technology's less forced, and more natural. The song for the lesson itself all the same, comes off as feeling rather... weird.
This was actually a fun episode. Was I shocked to see Hoho human activity like that? Yep I was. Did I await him to really get away with that? No. What I didn't wait the most was Yeye's disciplinary tone, and sending Hoho to a fourth dimension out to calm downwardly. Just about everything hither worked, at that place wasn't anything extremely silly, but the song itself is the just flaw I can see and so far. Would I put this episode in a top ten? Absolutely.
